The Civil Engineering Institute was established in the City of Gorky on June 23, 1930 as an independent institution of higher engineering education detached from the original Faculty of Building Construction of Gorky State University.
This date marks the beginning of Gorky Institute of Civil Engineering (now called Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering).
Nowadays the university is one of the leading institutions of higher learning in the area of architecture and construction. It offers education programs in architecture, design, civil engineering and construction technology, environmental engineering, cadastre, business management, economics, law, social pedagogy, information systems and technologies, and other specialties.
