Information about the department for today: goals, objectives, main directions of activity

The Department of Architectural Design is a graduating department. Teaching is conducted at 3 - 5 courses of bachelor's degree, master's degree, and postgraduate studies. The inalienable connection of the educational and scientific process with architectural practice is used as the main tool. GCP of NNGASU alumni in the field of Architecture training traditionally successfully takes part in the International Show-Competitions of the best GCP in architecture, design and art, where they are awarded with Diplomas of the first degree of MOOSAO, diplomas of the Union of Architects of the Russian Federation, Diplomas of RAACS, MASA. Students of the Department of Architectural Design take part in professional competitions: international festivals "Zodchestvo", "Eco-Coast", "Architectural Heritage", "Arch-Moscow", "Golden Section", etc.

Training is carried out in the speciality 07.03.01 Architecture (bachelor's level, profiles of Architectural design, Urban design); 04/07/01 Architecture (Master's level). Postgraduate students are trained according to the programs 07.06.01 Theory and history of architecture, restoration and reconstruction of historical and architectural heritage (in person and in absentia), 07.06.01 Architecture of buildings and structures. Creative concepts of architectural activity (full-time and part-time)

The main discipline of the curriculum is architectural design, the main courses of lectures: architecture of buildings and structures; modern architecture and design; modern problems of history and theory of architecture, urban planning and design; foundations of the theory of architectural shaping; social foundations of architectural design. The department has developed and introduced into the educational process new courses of lectures: the basics of conceptual design, modern architecture of Nizhny Novgorod, design of residential and public buildings in the context of the reconstruction of historical buildings, architecture of small towns in the Nizhny Novgorod region, architectural design of public spaces, architecture and environmental design of public and business centers.

The department has doctoral and postgraduate studies in the specialties 05.23.20 - "Theory and history of architecture, restoration and reconstruction of historical and architectural heritage"; 05.23.21 - “Architecture of buildings and structures. Creative concepts of architectural activity ".

Since 2003, a dissertation council has been working at NNGASU to defend dissertations for the degree of candidate of sciences, for the degree of doctor of sciences in the following specialties: 05.23.20 - "Theory and history of architecture, restoration and reconstruction of historical and architectural heritage"; 05.23.21 - “Architecture of buildings and structures. Creative concepts of architectural activity ", which is chaired by the doctor of architecture, professor, corresponding member of RAASN A.L. Gelfond. Since 2003, 9 doctoral and 134 master's theses have been defended in the council. The Council unites around the NNGASU architecture school prominent scientists of the Volga Federal District and their students.

Currently, the department has 16 permanent employees, 4 internal part-time workers, 1 external. The department includes:
