Scientific and educational excursion to the UNESCO Chair, Mineralogical and Paleontological Museums of NNSUACE
The UNESCO Chair of NNSUACE implements the UNESCO concept of lifelong learning. It includes museums and heritage site tours. The excursions to the NNSUACE has a special meaning, since the building in which the UNESCO Chair is located is a heritage site - the mansion of the merchant Markov. Two unique museums - Paleontological and Mineralogical are located in the library and the academic building of the University.
The excursion on November 28 was attended by employees of the Ministry of Ecology and veterans of environmental activities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, students of Minin University and schoolchildren of School # 91 of Nizhny Novgorod, who are interested in earth sciences, a total of 35 people. Two streams were formed from the excursion participants, since the museum exhibits are compactly located in ordinary library and classrooms.
The visit to the Paleontological Museum included a lecture with a demonstration of video materials and an inspection of exhibits collected mainly in the European part of Russia.
The tour of the Mineralogical Museum was conducted by one of the largest practicing geologists in Russia, Professor A.M. Kolomiets.
A visit to the Markov mansion included a tour and a viewing of the film "A Novel in Stone, Architectural Masterpieces of the World" on the history of the Markov family.
