Ecologically safe development of a large region – the Volga basin

Promenade along the 16th All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1896

In 2020-2023, the international educational project of Rosatom and Nizhny Novgorod state University of Architecture and Civil Engineering "BIM management" was carried out. One of the significant results of the project was the digital recreation of the XVI All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod. After completion, all the pavilions of the exhibition were dismantled and handed over to new owners. Currently, only two pavilions have survived. They were used for more than a hundred years as warehouses of the river port on Strelka in Nizhny Novgorod. Thanks to the surviving drawings, photographs of Dmitriev and the description of V.I. Vinogradov, it was possible to recreate the virtual image of the Exhibition. A walk through this grandiose creation of Russian architects and engineers of the late 19th century is presented in the video clip. This project is part of the long-term work of UNESCO Chair Professor Tatyana Vinogradova to return the All-Russian exhibition to the historical memory of the great engineering creations of Russia.
